This quadrilingual dictionary was created by the various Indigenous communities who speak the Werikyana language in the Brazilian Amazon. It is the first-ever digital resource of this kind, and represents many years of work by many Werikyana speakers at multiple Werikyana Language Workshops, facilitated by Spike Gildea (University of Oregon) and hosted by the Institute for Research and Indigenous Training (Iepé).

Further editing and addition of the details of entries were provided in 2024 by Carla Lisya Kawiri, Celestino Maritü Kaxuyana Tiriyó, Jacilene Parena Kaxuyana Tiriyó, Lucas Kumarohto Kaxuyana, Márcio Warata Tiriyó Kaxuyana, Marleide Aape Kaxuyana Akuriyó, Neide Imaya Wara Kaxuyana, and Savira Maweno Kaxuyana.

These are the eight Werikyana Researchers who received stipends sponsored by the US National Science Foundation via the project Collaborative Documentation of an Endangered Language (grant No. BCS-2319628, awarded to the University of Oregon and Iepé).

This Living Dictionary was made publicly accessible to the world with the authorization of AIKATUK (Associação Indígena dos Kaxuyana-Tunayana-Kahyana).

Technical assistance was provided by Spike Gildea (University of Oregon), as well as Anna Luisa Daigneault and Diego Córdova Nieto at Living Tongues Institute for Endangered Languages in the US.
