Privacy

Updated October 2026. This site belongs to the Living Tongues Institute for Endangered Languages, a non-profit in Salem, Oregon. It is short on purpose, because we collect very little.

What we measure

To know which pages are useful and whether the site is fast, we count page views. For each view we record the page, the site that linked to it, your country (from our network provider, Cloudflare), whether the screen is phone- or desktop-sized, and how quickly the page loaded. We set no cookies and store nothing in your browser. To count unique visitors we combine your IP address and browser type into a code that changes every day and cannot be turned back into either one. We don't use advertising or third-party trackers.

When you write to us

Messages sent through the contact form are kept so we can reply, and are read only by our staff. We never sell or share them.

Donations

Online donations are processed by PayPal, under PayPal's own privacy policy. We receive your name, email and the amount, which we use to thank you and to send tax receipts.

Videos and links

Videos come from YouTube, and nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. Links to other sites, including Living Dictionaries, are governed by those sites' policies.
