As a result of the blending of ethnic history and culture of Manitoba, it is not uncommon to see loan words or phrases out of the First People's, Manitoba French, as well as other European languages of heritage. Due to the nature of Manitoba's mixed ethnic background, history and large/spread out farming industry, no formal Gaeltacht developed here. Instead small pockets of communities of the Gael grew largely in the south-west of the province. As this is a living language used within the community; words, names and phrases are continuously being added to better support our speakers.
