### • Sobre estos apuntes gramaticales Desafortunadamente, no sabemos mucho sobre la gramática del Aʔɨwa porque existe muy poca documentación sobre este idioma. Lo que presentamos aquí se basa en la investigación de campo realizada por Christine Beier y Lev Michael en 2008 y 2010, y posteriormente publicada como Beier & Michael (2023). Lo que presentamos a continuación está destinado a ayudar a los usuarios de este diccionario a formar frases y oraciones básicas en el idioma. ### About these grammatical notes Unfortunately, we do not know much about the grammar of Aʔɨwa because there is so little existing documentation of this language. What we present here is based on the field research done by Christine Beier & Lev Michael in 2008 and 2010, and subsequently published as Beier & Michael (2023). What we present below is meant to help users of this dictionary in forming basic phrases and sentences in the language. ### • El orden de las palabras En las oraciones básicas, el orden de las palabras más común es: Sujeto Verbo Objeto. ***ku inár ki***. “te veo.” En las frases nominales, el orden de las palabras más común es: Sustantivo Modificador. ***atkú tukút*** “casa grande” ***áu tulúk*** “árbol grande (o alto)” ### Word order In basic sentences, the most common word order is: Subject Verb Object. ***ku inár ki***. “I see you.” In noun phrases, the most common word order is: Noun Modifier. ***atkú tukút*** “big house” ***áu tulúk*** “big (or tall) tree” ### • Pronombres Para los sujetos verbales de verbos transitivos y de ciertos verbos intransitivos, y también para los objetos verbales, usamos el pronombre ***ku*** para primera persona, “yo”, y ***ki*** para segunda persona, “tu, usted”. ***ku isák ki.*** “Te voy a picar.” ***ku iták=was kin atáɾi.*** “voy a comer tu papaya.” o “quiero comer tu papaya.” ***nájri sík=was ki?*** “¿de dónde vienes?” Para ciertos verbos intransitivos, usamos el pronombre de primera persona ***kun*** o el pronombre de segunda persona ***kin*** para el sujeto verbal. ***kun ʃalín***. “voy a comer.” o “estoy comiendo.” ***jar kin tsúk=was.*** “ahora vas a bañar.” o “ahorita estás bañando.” El otro pronombre de primera persona, ***kúa***, se usa para los objetos de ciertos verbos. ***ɨwɨ́t kúa!*** ‘¡dame!’ ### Pronouns For the subjects of transitive verbs and some intransitive verbs, as well as for verbal objects, the first person pronoun ***ku*** and the second person pronoun ***ki*** are used. ***ku isák ki.*** “I will stab you.” ***ku iták=was kin atáɾi.*** “I will eat your papaya.” or “I want to eat your papaya.” ***nájri sík=was ki?*** “where are you coming from?” For some intransitive verbs, the form ***kun*** is used for first person subjects and the form ***kin*** is used for second person. ***kun ʃalín***. “I will eat.” or “I am eating.” ***jar kin tsúk=was.*** “now you will bathe.” or “just now you are bathing.” The other first person pronoun, ***kúa***, is used for the objects of certain verbs. ***ɨwɨ́t kúa!*** “gimme!” or “give me (that)!” ### • Posesivos Para expresar la posesión, usamos la forma ***kun*** para primera persona, “mío, mía”, y la forma ***kin*** para segunda persona, “tu, de ti”. ***kun júti*** “mi cabeza” ***kin júti*** “tu cabeza” ### Possessives To express possession, we use the form ***kun*** for first person and the form ***kin*** for second person. ***kun júti*** “my head” ***kin júti*** “your head” ### • Imperativos Para dar una orden a una persona, utilizamos la forma verbal simple. ***inár!*** “¡mira!” El verbo imperativo puede ir seguido de un objeto. ***inár jan aslantanía!*** “mira a esa mujercita!” El verbo imperativo también puede ir seguido del pronombre de segunda persona para dar énfasis. ***jar tujrawák ki!*** “¡ya duermes, tu!” ### Imperatives To give a command to a person, we use the bare verb form. ***¡inár!*** “look!” The imperative verb can be followed by an object. ***¡inár jan aslantanía!*** “look at that young woman!” The imperative verb may also be followed by the second person pronoun for emphasis. ***jar tujrawák ki!*** “sleep now, you!” ### • El enclítico = was El elemento =was es muy común en nuestros ejemplos existentes. Ocurre con sustantivos, verbos y adverbios. Debido a que siempre aparece conectado al final de una palabra, lo consideramos un *enclítico*. No parece cambiar el significado central de una palabra u oración, sino que parece expresar inmediatez o afecto. ### The enclitic *=was* The element *=was* is very common in our existing examples. It occurs with nouns, verbs, and adverbs. Because it always appears connected to the end of a word, we consider it an *enclitic*. It does not seem to change the core meaning of a word or sentence, but rather it seems to express immediacy or affection.
