About

This project involves the documentation of Tu'un Javi (Ixpantepec Nieves Mixtec). We hope this dictionary provides resource material for the learning and maintenance of the Tu'un Javi language. As this project unfolds, more entries as well as refinements to current entries will appear.

Background

Tu’un Javi is an Oto-Manguean language spoken in the state of Oaxaca in Mexico. There are also many speakers within the diasporic community in the United States, especially in Oregon and California. This variety is undergoing language shift, particularly among the youth of the diasporic community. The compilers are working directly with speakers to record the language. Among the compilers are included native speakers of the language. If you have questions, concerns, or wish to make a contribution, please feel free to contact us.
