This dictionary aims to collect all the vocabulary of the Sumerian language registered in various preserved historical sources, regardless of time, use, dialect, formalism or area of origin.
The spelling used in the dictionary follows the guidelines for converting cuneiform writing to the Latin alphabet and the normalization of words. The transcription of the Sumerian script is important, since most studies on the Sumerian language are written using the Latin alphabet.
Nouns (and other grammatical categories when applicable) also include their plural form and their grammatical cases. Verbs include conjugations in different tenses for the third person singular.
All words contain their pronunciation (following the International Phonetic Alphabet) and the source from which they were documented. Note that the dictionary is constantly expanding and updating, so its content is not definitive.
