Meiteilon (ꯃꯩꯇꯩꯂ‌ꯣꯟ) is predominantly spoken in Manipur, India and some portions of Assam, Tripura, Nagaland, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and even for some northern people. It is spoken by 1.8 to 2.5 million people. It is a native language for Meitei ethnic group, but it is also accepted as a second language by some peripheral tribes. A language nevertheless suffers some adversities, as using Bengali script instead of original Meitei Mayek script. Nonetheless, there are attempts to preserve and monger it. The language is not at the risk of extinction because it is not only well-known but also regarded as one of the official languages in India. It is propagated with the help of educational institutions, governance, and social media.
