Literally "his head is soft": hellytaa "his head, hair on head", mewalyp "is soft". Inverse is hellytaach 'ewir, "he is dumb", literally "his head is hard". Suffix -ch marks hellytaa as the subject.
In most dialects, hellytaa means only "hair on head", and another word is used for "head". Additionally, different verbs may be used for "smart, intelligent", such as 'iillyaawp in 'Iipay and paywechaach in Tiipay.
