Means "is gray" in 'Iipay and other dialects, and can also mean "is bubbly, foamy". Also spelled hemoll in Mesa Grande and defined as, "is gray, soapy, smoggy". Can also be a noun meaning, "foam, suds, soapsuds".
Hemull is also a verb meaning "gathers heaps of, gathers large objects", at least in Mesa Grande. Compare to hemul "gathers small objects, picks up one by one".
In some dialects, hemull is a synonym to wemull (wemuull), "gathers acorns, picks acorns".
