The Coptic Root: In Coptic, the independent pronoun for "you" (masculine singular) is Ⲛⲑⲟⲓ (Nthoi) or Ⲛⲧⲟⲕ (Entok).

The Linguistic Twist: Because the Coptic Entok and the Arabic Anta sounded so similar as cousins, Egyptians experienced a seamless transition. However, they kept the vocalic rhythm of Coptic. In Coptic, the accent is pulled forward, giving a clean, crisp opening vowel sound (إ / E-). Egyptians dropped the final guttural Kaf of Entok and blended it with the Arabic ending to create the sleek إنتا (enta).
