The Bum database was compiled by Ndokobaï and Robert Hedinger in 2005. In 2022, Pius Akumbu obtained permission from Ndokobaï and Hedinger to continue work on the dictionary. In 2023, it was imported by Living Tongues Institute for Endangered Languages, where Jeffrey Wills and Gregory D. S. Anderson provided linguistic assistance, and Anna Luisa Daigneault and Diego Córdova Nieto provided technical assistance.
