The Black-naped Oriole (Oriolus chinensis) is a medium-sized bird with striking black and yellow plumage. While it can be found in the Philippines, it's not endemic to the country, as its distribution range extends to other parts of Asia, including India, China, Southeast Asia, and Indonesia.

       - *O. c. chinensis*: Found on Palawan, Luzon, Mindoro, and satellite islands (western and northern Philippines)
       - *O. c. yamamurae*: Found on the Visayan Islands, Mindanao, and Basilan (central and southern Philippines)
       - *O. c. suluensis*: Found in the Sulu Archipelago (southwestern Philippines)

- Medium-sized, overall golden with a strong pinkish bill and a broad black mask and nape\

  • Adult male has central tail feathers tipped yellow and lateral ones more broadly yellow\
  • Female has mantle color more greenish or olive\
  • Juvenile has streaked underside and lacks nape band¹ ²

The Black-naped Oriole's diet consists of berries, insects, and small fruits, and it's known for its loud, nasal calls. Despite having a stable population, they are sometimes trapped and sold in the bird trade.
