Notes
To thrust or drive the tip of a long-handled object forcefully into a target while retaining hold of the object; to impale or set by a downward/inward thrust.
Implies:
The tool is elongated and gripped — pole, pestle, spear, trident.
The force is directed through the tip — blunt or sharp.
You do not release the tool — distinct from throwing.
Typical uses:
staking / planting a pole in the ground
pounding a pestle into a mortar (bay-o)
spearing / impaling — fish with a trident, enemy with a spear, without letting go
