BADAGBADAG
badagbadag
adj. n.
NOTES
Although formally reduplicated from badag, the meaning is largely lexicalized. The idea appears to have developed from objects that have been repeatedly tossed, handled roughly, moved about, or subjected to long wear, resulting in a sense of being worn-out, shabby, low-quality, or no longer of prime value.
Possible semantic pathway:
badag “to fling, toss around”
→ badagbadag “repeatedly tossed around”
→ “battered, worn from use”
→ “old, shabby, low-value, second-rate.”
