LEXICOGRAPHIC NOTE

boyboy¹ (traditional coconut storage) and boyboy² (to confess) are homonymous lexemes and are not believed to be historically related. The former belongs to the indigenous Boie’nen agricultural lexicon, whereas the latter is probably a borrowing from Standard Bikol associated with Christian religious practice.

Linguistic History
ETYMOLOGY: Probably borrowed from Standard Bikol boyboy, o confess one’s sins; to make confession, particularly in Christian and ecclesiastical usage.
