Gobius sternbergi is a junior synonym for the goby species Redigobius dispar, a fish found in Indo-West Pacific estuarine and freshwater environments. Originally described as Gobius sternbergi by Smith in 1902 in Lake Buhi, it was later recognized as a synonym for Redigobius dispar.
