Linguistic History
Closely corresponds in both form and meaning to Central Bikol bangíg, recorded by Mintz (1971) as the unsharpened part of a knife blade opposite the cutting edge. The very close phonological and semantic correspondence strongly suggests a historically related Bikol form, although the precise relationship between Boie’nen bangngig and Central Bikol bangíg should be treated as comparative evidence rather than as direct derivation.
