Medicinal values for: cough, diarrhoea, poor eyesight

  • Leaf: The juice (ros or rasa) made from the leaves (sakam) and fresh shoots is used to treat several ailments like cough (kʰuʔ) and diarrhoea

Culinary use: Widely consumed, it is mostly prepared as ata (frying) with mustard oil (sorso sunum) and garlic (rasun) or as a dry bhaji. However, consumption of sunsunija aɽaʔ in the form of chutney is considered as a most effective cure against eye infections and good for eyesight.
