All the parts of amɽa tree, leaves, bark, and fruit are of medicinal value. Traditionally, it is used to cure some diseases or minor ailments.
Medicinal values for: stomach pain and dysentery, ear pain, cuts and wounds
- Leaf: The juice (ros or rasa) of fresh tender leaves (baleʧ sakam) is given for stomach troubles. A decoction of leaves (sakam) is used to treat ear pain.
- Bark: A paste prepared from the bark (baklaʔ) is applied in the sprained part of the body for quick relief.
- A decoction of stem (ɖãʈiʧ), bark (baklaʔ) and leaf powder (sakam lubuʔ) is used to treat diarrhoea and dysentery.
- Fruit: For cuts and minor wounds a paste prepared from the fruit (dʒo) is applied externally.
Culinary use: The fruit (dʒo) is used as a culinary item by preparing pickles and chutney.
