The plant parts are a good food supplement for cattle. However, the wild climbing creeper is considered to have medicinal benefits by Birhor traditional healers.
Tuber: The cooled tuber decoction is used to treat urinary ailments.
The paste prepared from the tuber and asafoetida (hing) is used on boils, ulcers and burns.
If cattle (ɖaŋra ɖaŋri) cannot eat grass (gʰas) then the Birhor grind (rid) patal kõhɽa and mix (mesa) it into a paste with water (daʔ) using a bamboo-like straw and then give this to the cattle.
