The plant parts are a good food supplement for cattle. However, the wild climbing creeper is considered to have medicinal benefits by Birhor traditional healers.

Medicinal values for: urinary problems, boils, ulcers, burns

  • Tuber: The cooled tuber decoction is used to treat urinary ailments.
  • The paste prepared from the tuber and asafoetida (hing) is used on boils, ulcers and burns.
  • If cattle (ɖaŋra ɖaŋri) cannot eat grass (gʰas) then the Birhor grind (rid) patal kõhɽa and mix (mesa) it into a paste with water (daʔ) using a bamboo-like straw and then give this to the cattle.
