This plant plays an important role in the Birhor community.

Medicinal values for: toothache, acidity, sprains, headaches

Root: The root (rehet) paste is used for headache and applied on the forehead for relief.
It also used to treat toothache (ɖaʈa hasu).
The ash (toreʧ) of the roots (rehet) is also taken for relief from acidity problems in the stomach.
Leaf: A leaf (sakam**)** paste is applied for rheumatism and sprains and gives good relief.
