Some parts of the plant are considered useful for medicinal treatments by the Birhor community.

Medicinal values for: piles, abdominal pain, fever, headache, ulcers

  • Root: The root (rehet) and the bark (baklaʔ) paste are useful in the treatment of piles.
  • It is also useful against abdominal pains and fevers.
  • Leaf: A paste prepared from the leaf (sakam) is applied externally to relieve headaches (bohoʔ hasu).
  • The juice (ros or rasa) extracted is used to wash (ʧapi-kam) ulcers.

Other uses:

  • Wood: The wood (sahan) is used in making furniture like beds (parkom), chairs (kuɽsi), tables (ʈebul) and planks (dirkʰa).
