The gular tree is considered to have many medicinal properties.

Medicinal values for: boils, blisters, mumps, cuts and wounds, constipation

• Leaf: The leaf latex (sakam ʤer) is used for boils and blisters. The latex (ʤer) is applied around the boils and the mouth is left open. The pus (pipʰ) from the boils erupts and the pain is also reduced.
• The leaf latex (sakam ʤer) and the sap of the roots (rehet) are also used to cure mumps by applying it on the swollen area.
• A decoction of leaves (sakam) is used to wash (ʧapi-kam) the cuts and wounds and to provide fast relief from ulcers.
• Fruit: The fruits (dʒo) are regarded as a good remedy for constipation.
• Bark: The latex (ʤer) obtained after peeling (ʧʰolaʔ) of the bark (baklaʔ) is also considered as a treatment for mumps.
