The popro daru tree has great medicinal importance to the Birhor community.

Medicinal values for: snakebites, skin diseases, stomach problems, heartburn, constipation, caries (cavities in teeth)
Leaf: Pounded (ruruŋ) young leaves (baleʧ sakam) are used to cure snakebites.
Bark: Used against skin diseases. Pounded (ruruŋ) bark (baklaʔ) in water (daʔ) is also used to cure stomach troubles, heart burn and constipation.
The crushed (kʰeʧaʔ) stem bark (ɖãʈiʧ baklaʔ) is boiled (hõɽeʧ) in water (daʔ) and applied to treat caries (cavities in teeth).
Root: The root (rehet) part is taken to treat heavy bleeding during the menstrual cycle (kiʧriʔ kana).
