nyipaches

English: Translation
that's all, that's it, the end, amen
phrase
Notes

Said to mark the end of a story, prayer, etc.

Short for nyip paaches, literally "that has arrived" (nyip, "that"; paa, "arrives")

Alternate is peyapaches with same construction using the word peyaa "this".

Stress is on the marked syllable: nyípaches and peyápaches, due to the following:

  1. Grammatical suffixes never take or move the word's original stress (-ches)
  2. In 'Iipay, the last syllable cannot be stressed if it ends in a short vowel with nothing after it (pa)
