Notes

Korakding (Schizophyllum commune) is an edible and considered as a nutritious superfood which is very popular in Boie’ and the Bikol region

This mushroom is harvested from the wild by Boie’nen people from dead-tree trunks and branches during the rainy season, cleaned and dried. These are cooked primarily in coconut milk and may be mixed together with many other vegetables such as taro leaf, green-papaya, moringa leaves, and similar-other staple vegetables of Buhi.

These are high in protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, but low in fat and digestible carbohydrates. Split gill mushrooms also contain bioactive compounds that may have health benefits, such as antioxidants, antidiabetics, antiradicals, and immune boosters.

Split gill mushrooms are white or grayish-white in color and have gills that appear to be split lengthwise.
