sek-sek

Notes

seksek adj. [Boie’nen]

1. Dense; packed full: Describes a substance or space with no gaps, tightly filled to capacity.
“Seksek ana le-eg nyading binolalangaw.”
“The meat content of this binolalangaw is dense/full.”

2. Crowded; jammed: Used for places or gatherings where people or objects are compressed together.
“Seksek pirmi a simbahan ta Pasko.”
“The church is packed always because it’s Christmas.”

Etymology: From Proto-Austronesian seksek “to press, to cram”. Reduplication intensifies the meaning: not just full, but thoroughly full.

Cultural note: Seksek is desirable for binolalangaw, but ominous for clouds or crowds — it implies pressure about to break.
