The name hatʰʤoɽ is borrowed from Indo-Aryan where it means a plant that can join broken bones.

Medicinal values for: Bone fracture, scurvy. Though the plant has other medicinal benefits too, hatʰʤoɽ is mostly used as a treatment for broken bones.

  • Root: The roots (rehet) of the plant are the main medicinal parts used for bone and joint disorders. A paste prepared is applied on the fracture area and is tied with the help of bamboo or wooden sticks to keep it fixed for 15 days. This accelerates the rate of fracture healing.
  • The root (rehet) paste is applied on the wounds for relief and recovery.
  • The juice (ros or rasa) extracted from the leaves (sakam) and stem (ɖãʈiʧ) are also used. It strengthens bones and joints.
  • Stem: The stem (ɖãʈiʧ) is bitter (agam haɽhat); it is given internally as well as applied topically against complaints of the back and spine.
  • The juice (ros or rasa) extracted from the stem (ɖãʈiʧ) is also used for the treatment of scurvy.
