All the parts of the plant are highly beneficial for the community. The fruit is used in making pickles.

Medicinal values for: boils, diarrhoea, coughs, vomiting, dental problems, dysentery, digestive disorders, wounds and sores, fever.

  • Fruit: The pericarp of the fruit (dʒo) is in general utilized in decoctions along with different parts and applied externally on boils to bring out the pus (pipʰ) from the boil.
  • Fruit (dʒo) juice with a glass of warm milk is taken to stop coughing (kʰuʔ) and vomiting (ula). A decoction of the fruit (dʒo) is given to cure diarrhoea.
  • The dry fruit (rohoɽ dʒo) is chewed while suffering from dysentery.
  • Root: Root (rehet) extracts are chewed to keep away dental problems.
  • Leaf: Juice (ros or rasa) prepared from the leaves (sakam) is taken as a remedy for problems related to indigestion.
  • The milky juice (ros or rasa) of leaves (sakam) and bark (baklaʔ) is applied on wounds and sores.
  • A decoction of leaves (sakam) is used to bring down the fever (rua).
